The Great Outdoors and Healthy Body, Healthy Minds

Minibeast Hunting

During this term we have explored and hunted for a range of different minibeast. In our sand area, we had compost, where we had to find the minibeasts hidden in the compost. When we found one we had a go at naming the minibeast. In our water area we had 'Jelli-baff' which is like a green jelly solution. We used tweezers to find the hidden minibeasts in the jelly. Also outside we had a compost area, where we used the tools available to search the outdoor area for a range of different, real-life minibeasts. We found minibeasts such as woodlouse, ants, worms and ladybirds.

Sports Day!

Nursery had a really fun sports day. The sun was shining and all of the children were very excited. They all done so well to take part in all of the races and their confidence is starting to shine! They all loved being cheered on by their parents and carers. All children were congratulated at the end of the activities with a certificate and a medal. Well done Nursery, we are so proud of you all!

A Visit From A Fireman!

Nursery have just had a visitor - a fireman! He brought his fire engine to show us all. The nursery children had a lot of good questions to ask the fireman and Miss Forrest dressed up as a firefighter. Then we had a look at the parts of fire engine. We had a go at using the hose and sat inside of the fire engine. We then heard the very loud siren. We were all very excited and loved seeing the fire engine!

The Coronation Of King Charles III

To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III we made some cakes with dough in the dough area. We also enjoyed making crowns in the creative area. We decorated our crowns the way we wanted them and wore them around Nursery on the Thursday before the Coronation.

PE - Cars

In PE our topic is games. We all showed excellent listening and attention skills when we done a lesson all about cars. We had to pretend to be cars and listen for the instructions ‘green light’ - which meant go and ‘red light’ – which meant stop. If we were still moving when Miss Clark said ‘red light’ we had to go back to the beginning and start again.

A Visit From A Doctor

Nursery and Reception had another visitor - a doctor! She brought Doctor Bear with her and showed us how to bandage him correctly. We then had a go at using a stethoscope and listen to each others heart beat and breathing. We asked lots of important questions and the doctor answered all of our questions. At the end she gave us some colouring sheets and we enjoyed colouring them in. Some of us would love to be doctors when we grow up!

Healthy Fruit Tasting

During 'Be Fit Be Healthy' week we enjoyed tasting a range of different fruits. Miss Forrest and Miss Clark picked fruits which some of us hadn't tried before including; passionfruit, blueberries, banana, strawberry, kiwi and mango. We talked about the fruits and described what they tasted like and voted whether we liked them or not.

The Life Cycle Of A Butterfly

At the beginning of the Summer Term, Nursery were given some caterpillars. Everyday, we observed and discussed the caterpillars and we talked about the stages of the life cycle which they will go through. We also discussed changes which they will go through and predicted what will happen next. We have enjoyed watching them wriggling and eating as well as sleeping. After the summer break we came back to Nursery for Summer Term 2. The caterpillars had broken out of their cocoon and had turned into BUTTERFLIES! We were all so excited. We realised that this was the final stage of the butterfly's lives before they lay their own eggs. When the butterflies were strong enough, we went outside and let them free - to fly into the sky and start their adult lives.
