Star of the week W/C 4.1.22

What a great way to start our new term by announcing our star of the week. This week Lola received our special award as she has shown a hardworking attitude in phonics, and always tries her very best in PE. Well done Lola we are so proud of you!!

PE The Circus

We had a great fun first PE lesson this term our theme was the circus and we were going to practice and learn balancing skills. We got started by doing a warm up which was fun and it got our hearts pumping fast. Miss Forrest  set up a balance obstacle course for us. We had to concentrate on our balance skills we had to pretend we were  a tightrope walker when we walked across the bench making sure we were controlling our walking and balance. We had really good fun and we all loved taking part in the balance obstacle course!! 

Snuggle box

Well done to Elliott who gets the opportunity to take home our snuggle box home over the weekend, Elliott will get to enjoy a hot chocolate, biscuits and a story to share with his grown-ups. We are really looking forward to you telling us all about your story!!

Star of the week W/C 07.02.22

A massive well done to Freddie for receiving the Star of the Week award, Freddie received this award for his fantastic effort in phonics and also his phonic writing. We are extremely proud of him! 

Chinese New Year 

We had a great afternoon learning all about Chinese New Year, We learnt that it was the year of the tiger!! We also got the opportunity to look at different Chinese objects, We looked at Chinese dragons and some of us got to try some Chinese clothing and accessories on!! Take a look at our pictures. 

Comic Relief 2022

Reception had a fantastic time wearing red for Comic Relief. We attended a special Comic Relief assembly with the whole school. We would like to say a huge thank you for all the donations received and we have managed to collect 506 items for the Sunderland food bank!! Well done everyone!!

Easter Card Making

We have been very busy in reception this week making our wonderful Easter cards. We have used our handprints to make chirping chicks and bouncing bunnies and had fun using feathers and pipe cleaners to add detail. We also used pom pom paint prints to decorate our wonderful Easter egg designs. We hope you love the cards and a Happy Easter to you all!!!

Star of the week W/C 10.1.22

A massive well done to Viktor for receiving our star of the week. We are super proud of Viktor as he is forming lovely friendships and having a good try at his phonics!! Well done Viktor we are so proud of you.  

Snuggle Box

This week Alfie was chosen to take our snuggle box home for the weekend. The snuggle box is an opportunity for the children to enjoy reading at home with their grown-ups the box contains a lovely story to share some hot chocolate and biscuits a cuddle toy and a book for the children to share their experience eg draw a picture of their favourite character or photographs to show them enjoying the reading book!!  Stay tuned each week to find out who gets to take the snuggle box home!!. 

PE- Under the sea

This week in PE we have  been learning how to develop in changing our direction during our activities. We started with our warm up, we had to think of different things we might see under the sea!! Miss Forrest played some music and we had to travel around our space showing different movements for the different creatures like crabs, fishes and seahorses. We got to develop our skill of changing direction by taking part in a fun activity called ' at the sea' we all had to jog around in the middle of our space, Miss Forrest had placed a red ,blue ,yellow and green cone in each corner  and when Miss Forrest shouted out a certain colour we had to do a particular action, we had to make sure that we avoided others by changing direction. We had a great time in our PE lesson please take a look at our pictures!. 

Internet Safety Day 

This week it has been' Internet Safety day' and the theme this year was' All fun and games' We enjoyed an assembly with Miss Forrest we discussed what Internet Safety was and how to keep safe whilst playing our favourite game or watching or favourite movie online, we also discussed how people should behave when they are online. We enjoyed listening to a story about Digiduck and the Magic Castle and it was all about keeping safe online. We all joined in an activity where we discussed what is safe to share online and what is not safe!!. Some of us drew some pictures of adults that we trust if we wanted to tell them something important. We really enjoyed Internet Safety Day!! We learnt lots of information on how to keep safe online!!. 

Special persons Cards

We have been very creative in Reception making wonderful cards for that special person . We used our handprints to make flowers in a plant pot which was fun and felt funny when painting our hands, we added a special message to make it extra special. We hope you all liked our cards just as much as we enjoyed making them!!.

Easter Bonnet Parade

Over the last few weeks Reception have been hard at work learning the words to their Easter songs. We were all very excited to be on stage to perform for all our families. We have also worked so hard at making such wonderful Easter bonnets, thanks to all the support from home, we wore them with pride at our special Easter performance. It was fantastic to be able to see everyone back in school to enjoy the children's singing. We all loved spending time with our families and the yummy Easter biscuits were a very special treat. Thank you for your continued support to make the performance and a huge well done to all our children for being "Superstars" on stage!!! 

Arctic Yoga

What a great start to our spring term, our topic is Arctic Antics and we got started by enjoying some Arctic yoga!! We all went on a special adventure with a bear and we all got to experience different movements and stretches, we all felt very calm and relaxed at the end of our yoga session and we can not wait to to try yoga again!!

Star of the week- W/C 17.1.22

A massive well done to our star of the week Alex!! Alex received this award for all his hard work in phonics!! Alex has tried so hard with his writing and sound and blending new words , we could not be prouder!! Keep up the great work!!

Valentines Day 

Our school Council organised a Valentines themed day for all the children at Blackfell. Our Valentines theme was about sharing positivity and kindness throughout the school. We had a lovely Valentine’s Day lunch and shared cards with the children alongside some spot prize when they were caught doing something kind for their peers or teachers. The children all had a wonderful day! We would like to thank you for your kind donations all money will be donated to Washington Mind to help support people in the community with mental health. 

World Book Day

We had a fantastic time in Reception celebrating World Book Day and we have been looking at Bedtime Stories as our theme. It was great fun coming to school dressed in our pyjama's, slippers, and dressing gowns!! We were very excited to also have the opportunity to read stories with some of the children in Year 4. It was great for all of us to be together sharing stories!! We also had cookies and milk with our friends. What a brilliant day!!!!

Surprise Fire Engine Visit

We were very lucky to receive an exciting surprise  this week!! Year 2 had a visit from the Fire engine as part of their learning and Nursery and Reception were invited to also go and see the Fire engine. We were very excited! The Firefighters talked to us about the different equipment they use and we each got a turn of the fireman's hose. Some of us even got to try on the fireman's hat which was very heavy!!  Thank you for our visit we had so much fun!!
