PE - A Windy Day!

This PE lesson was all about moving around with the ball on a calm or on a windy day. We started off the lesson where Miss Clark shouted out the following commands; forward with the breeze, backwards with the breeze, a gust of wind, whirlwind and gone with the wind. We had to do a range of actions depending on what Miss Clark had asked us to do.
We then played 'stop that ball' where we had to imagine that we had gone to the park on a very windy day. In pairs with one ball between us we had to stand opposite each other, about five big steps away. We then practised rolling the ball to each other and stopping it with our hands. We explored rolling the ball in a breeze (softly) and rolling the ball in a gust of wind (with power).
We then played 'through your legs' where in pairs, one of us had to stand with our legs in a straddle position. Our partner had to try and roll the ball through our legs and then run around the other side to collect it. We then had to change over after three rolls.
Lastly we played 'easy breezy'. In this game we had to pretend that there was a gentle breeze and roll our ball slowly to our partner. We then had to place two cones together around 1m apart- to make a gate. We had to move around the hall rolling our ball to our partner through other peoples gates. We had a competition to see who could roll their ball to their partner through the most gates in 1 minute. We had very good ball control - even in the windy weather!

Star of the week W/C 26-4-21

A massive well done to the boys this week who were both awarded with special awards this week!! Jacob received Mrs Watkins  special Head Teachers award for excellent phonics and doing so well with his number work!! Harrison was received the kindness award for showing kindness towards his friends and teachers and for always being helpful. Well done boys we are so very proud of you!!.

PE - Sunshine And Rainbows

In this lesson we were working on our dribbling skills. We played a range of games in which we had to keep the ball close to our feet. Our warm up game involved people who were 'frosties' and people who were 'sunnys'. Frosties had to catch people and make them freeze, whilst sunnys had to save frozen people by crawling under their legs.
The next game involved dribbling around the area, when Miss Clark said 'frosty' we had to stop the ball with our foot and freeze. Later she added some cones into the area. When she said 'frosty' this time we had to dribble the ball through the cone gates.
To finish off the lesson, we practiced dribbling around the area with our partners, passing the ball to them and receiving it back. We had to practice stopping the ball with our foot.

RE - Jonah And The Fish

In RE we have enjoyed listening to the story of Jonah and the fish. We talked about the message behind the story and also retold the story verbally. After listening to the story, we re-enacted the story in groups and took turns to be different characters within the story. We were great actors!

PE - Aeroplanes

In PE this week we were pretending to be aeroplanes. Miss Clark placed cones around the teaching space and we had to pretend that the cones are the airports. We began by crouching next to a cone. When Miss Clark said "get ready for take off" we had to fly around the teaching space. Then when Miss Clark said, "get ready for landing", we had to find a cone to land next to. We explored travelling at different speeds and heights.
We then played a game in which we had to use aeroplanes to fly to different countries. In pairs, we had a hoop (country) and one beanbag (aeroplane). We took turns to throw our aeroplane - trying to get it to land in the country. If we got the aeroplane in the country, we had to take a step back and keep trying. Each time we got it in, we scored a point. We made very good pilots!

ICT On The Ipads

This week in ICT, we have enjoyed accessing Purple Mash from the Ipads for the first time. Some of us also had a go at this on the interactive whiteboard. We were very good at using the Ipads and enjoyed working with and sharing with our friends.

PE - There's A Storm Coming!

Today in PE there was a storm coming. In the warm up, when Miss Clark gave us an instruction - we had to do the corresponding action. When Miss Clark said "come inside, there's a storm coming", we had to jog around the space until the teacher calls one of the following instructions: When Miss Clark said, "I hear thunder" we had to jump on the spot trying to make a heavy noise. When Miss Clark said, "the rain is falling" we had to raise our arms and wiggle our fingers. We had to lower our arms as we crouched to the floor. Jump and  then repeat. When Miss Clark said, "I see lightning" we had to perform star jumps. When Miss Clark said, "I can feel the wind" we had to stand on the spot swaying from side to side.
Our next activity was practicing different ball skills. We practiced throwing and catching with both hands and one hand. We also practiced rolling the ball to our friends and kicking the ball to our friends. When Miss Clark said "storm ahead" we had to put our ball on the closest cone and jog around the hall, moving direction to avoid the storm. Once the storm had passed we were allowed to collet our ball again from the top of the cone.

Outdoor Learning with Derwent Outdoor Adventure Team

We really enjoyed celebrating outdoor learning week this week! We had some special visitors into our school from Derwent Hill Outdoor Adventure. They worked with us on the school field with a focus on team work and the 5Rs. We completed three activities. The first one involved us going around an assault course blindfolded - with a partner who was able to see. We had to communicate well with each other to get around the course. We then took part in archery and really enjoyed shooting the arrows at the target. Lastly, we had a go at a climbing activity where we had to support each other to try and walk along a tight rope. We had such a fun morning!

Sports Day!

Nursery and Reception had a fab morning taking part in their sports day events. All children tried their best in all events and everyone had lots of fun cheering on their team mates. They took part in throwing, relay, egg and spoon and dribbling events. Pine were the overall winners of the morning - Well done Pine!

PE - A Snowy Day!

Today in PE our focus was to develop accuracy when throwing to a target. Our warm up involved; jogging through the snow, skipping through the snow, side stepping through the snow, snowman (children stand with their legs apart and their hands on their hips) and sledging (children sit on their bottom, using their hands and feet to slide along the floor).
We then worked in teams on different stations to practice different throwing activities. We had to aim and always keep our eye on the target. We used underarm throws to try and get as close to our target as possible. We each had a go on each station.

Star of the week!! W/C 19.4.21

A massive well done to the girls this week who both got a special awards in Reception- Natalia was rewarded with the kind award this week, as she always shows kindness and helps her friends and also her teachers. Scarlet-Jane was rewarded with Mrs Watkins Headteachers award we are very proud of how Hard Scarlett -Jane  has being working on her phonic and reading skills!!. Well done girls we are so very proud of you!!.

PE - Rainy Days

In PE this week we were having fun in the wet puddles! In the warm up there was a range of hoops around the hall. As the music played we had to jog around the teaching space. When we got to a puddle, we had to stop and jump into it. Then Miss Clark shouted out a number and we had to run over to a puddle (hoop) and put that many fingers in the puddle.
For the main activity, we had to work with a partner to bounce the ball in the puddles whilst our partner had to wait to catch the ball. They then had to bounce the ball back into the wet puddle back to us. This helped develop our throwing, bouncing and catching skills. We had to concentrate and watch the ball at all times.

PE - Cars

In PE today we have been pretending that we are cars racing around the hall. We played a range of games relating to changing speed and direction. We have enjoyed moving forwards, backwards, quickly, slowly and over speed bumps. We have also played a traffic light game where we had to follow an instructions depending on whether the light was red, amber or green. Miss Clark kept on changing the instructions which made the game tricky and we had to use super listening skills.

GGGOOOAAALLL!

Nursery and Reception have enjoyed a game of football this week on the field with a Championship Sports Coach. They warmed up by playing tag and British Bulldog and then moved onto to a 9V9 game of football. They worked well together in mixed teams and scored some great goals. Well done everyone!
