Year 2 Summer Term 2017-18
Grace Darling Museum
To start off our new topic Let's Set Sail Year 2 went to visit the Grace Darling museum. They had great fun acting out the events of the stormy night! We also took a look around the museum and found out lots of interesting facts about her.
Beebots
Continuing with direction and positional language we used the beebots to practice rotation clockwise and anti clockwise.
Our Caribbean Visitor
Whilst we were learning about the Caribbean we were lucky enough to have a visitor who had just returned from Barbados. He shared lots of very interesting facts and was able to answer all of our questions. Thank-you Dave!
Lego- Diversity
Year 2 learnt about the term diversity and how we are all unique. Knowing that Lego was created in Denmark we crated our own Lego characters and then worked in groups to create a Lego world for them.
Bamburgh Beach
After our visit to the museum we walked along the village to the beach. We had great fun playing in the sand and walking along the coast discussing the human and physical features we could see.
School Summer Disco
Key Stage 1 had a great time at the summer disco! We enjoyed dancing and our refreshments!
Multiplication Challenges
In preparation for Key Stage 2 we have been doing lots of different activities revising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Diversity Week- Tall Ships- Denmark
Smorrebrods
We designed and made some Danish Smorrebrod's which is like an open top sandwich using rye bread. Some of us thought they were yummy!
Directions
In Maths we have been learning about positional language and direction. Here we drew our own course and then recorded our directions to reach the end.
Measurement
We have been learning about weight and capacity and carried out a range of practical activities using non-standard and standard measurements.
Sports Day
We had a fantastic Sports Day! Everyone tried their best. Willow were our Key Stage One and Reception winners, well done!
