To explore the different symbols of Easter time, Year 1 and 2 took part in a carousel of activities throughout the afternoon. In groups we decorated eggs, made palm crosses, tasted hot cross buns, created stained-glass crosses and made paper chicks. We even had time to act out the arrival of Jesus to Jerusalem with some palm leaves. We talked about the importance of the cross within the Easter story, why palm leaves are often used at Easter time and how eggs and chicks represent new life like when Jesus began his new life heaven. It's been a lot of fun!
